Watch Repair

Watch repair across Canada, from Oakville.

Esta página se publica únicamente en inglés.

Viattori Watches is an independent watch repair and restoration atelier in Oakville, Ontario, and it repairs watches for anyone who needs one cared for. Mechanical and quartz watches from many brands are accepted, not only Viattori’s own, and every repair is carried out in-house on the atelier’s bench.

There is no walk-in storefront. Clients in Oakville and the Greater Toronto Area arrange a private handoff by appointment, and clients anywhere in Canada send their watch by tracked mail. Local clients who would rather not meet in person can ship too.

Oakville & the GTA

Private, appointment-based local handoff.

For clients in Oakville and the Greater Toronto Area, Viattori offers private, appointment-based handoff at an agreed public location. The date, time and place are confirmed privately once the appointment is arranged, and the finished watch can come back the same way.

For higher-value pieces, or whenever either side prefers a more controlled setting, the handoff can take place at a designated police-service exchange zone where one is available, such as the Halton Regional Police Service’s Buy and Sell Exchange Zones. These are public places a police service sets aside for in-person exchanges. The police service is not part of the repair or the handoff, and does not supervise, inspect or insure it.

Meeting in person is a choice, never a requirement. Local clients can use the same tracked shipping that serves the rest of Canada, in either direction.

Across Canada

Tracked mail-in service.

From anywhere in Canada, a watch can travel to the atelier by tracked shipment, and back again the same way. Packing instructions come with the arrangement: two boxes, nothing on the outside that suggests a watch, and a signature required for any piece valued over $1,000 CAD.

Intake

Every watch documented on arrival.

Every watch enters the same documented intake process, whether it arrives by local handoff or by tracked shipment.

  • The make and model are recorded, with the reference and serial number where the watch carries them.
  • Its condition is photographed, including any marks or damage it already has.
  • Its agreed value is confirmed in writing.
  • The client receives confirmation that the atelier has accepted the piece.
  • From then on, the watch has a service record that follows it through assessment, repair and return.

Assessment comes before any repair is authorized, and no work begins without the client’s approval.

The Process

How a repair works.

  1. Get in touch

Describe the watch and what it needs, by the contact form, phone, WhatsApp or email. The atelier replies within one business day.

  2. Choose handoff or shipping

Clients in Oakville and the GTA can request a private handoff by appointment. Tracked shipping is open to every client in Canada, local clients included.

  3. Confirm the handoff

For a local handoff, the date, time and professional public location are confirmed privately. A designated police-service exchange zone can be chosen where one is available.

  4. Intake is documented

The watch’s identifying details and visible condition are recorded, and the client receives confirmation that the atelier has accepted it.

  5. Free assessment and written estimate

The watch is assessed before any work begins, and the client receives a detailed written estimate, valid for 30 days, with a good-faith completion date.

  6. Approval

No repair proceeds until the estimate is approved. If disassembly reveals further necessary work, the work stops and the client is asked first.

  7. Service and testing

Approved work is carried out in-house, then the watch is tested as the work calls for: a mechanical movement is timed and regulated in several positions, and a watch rated for water is pressure-tested.

  8. A report of the work

The client receives a full report of what was done and why.

  9. Return

The finished watch comes back through another arranged handoff or by tracked shipment, whichever the client prefers.

Questions

Watch repair questions, answered.

Does Viattori repair watches in Oakville?

Yes. Viattori Watches is an independent watch repair and restoration atelier in Oakville, Ontario, and it repairs watches for the public. Clients in Oakville and the GTA arrange a private handoff by appointment; clients elsewhere in Canada use tracked mail-in service.

Where do I bring my watch if Viattori does not have a walk-in store?

There is no counter to bring it to. Arrange a private, appointment-based handoff at an agreed public location in Oakville or the GTA, or send the watch by tracked shipment. The details are confirmed privately once you get in touch.

Can I arrange an in-person handoff in Oakville?

Yes. Tell the atelier about the watch and the work it needs, and a date, time and professional public location in Oakville or the GTA are agreed privately.

Can I meet Viattori at a designated police exchange zone?

Yes, where one is available, for a higher-value piece or simply if you prefer it. It is a public place a police service sets aside for exchanges; the police service is not involved in the handoff or the repair.

Do I have to meet in person if I live in Oakville?

No. Local clients can use the same tracked shipping available across Canada, in either direction.

What happens when I hand over my watch?

It goes through the same documented intake as a shipped watch: the make, model and serial number are recorded, its condition is photographed, its agreed value is confirmed in writing, and you receive confirmation that the atelier has accepted it.

Can my repaired watch be returned in person?

Yes. A finished watch can come back through another arranged handoff in Oakville or the GTA, or by tracked shipment.

Does Viattori repair brands other than its own?

Yes. The atelier repairs watches from many brands, including Tissot, Longines, Hamilton, Rado, Mido, Baume & Mercier, TAG Heuer, Breitling, Zodiac, IWC, Seiko and Oris. It is independent and is not an authorized service centre for any brand.

Do you repair mechanical watches?

Yes: manual-wind and automatic watches, from a full service and overhaul to regulation, mainspring and barrel replacement, automatic winding repair, and calendar, moonphase and GMT complications.

Do you repair quartz watches?

Yes. Quartz watches are repaired as well as mechanical ones, along with the battery, crystal, crown, gasket and bracelet work any watch may need.

Can you replace a watch battery?

Yes. A battery change is usually ready in one to two business days.

Can you replace a scratched or broken watch crystal?

Yes. Acrylic, mineral and sapphire crystals are replaced, and a scratched acrylic crystal can often be polished instead.

Do you repair vintage watches?

Yes. Vintage and heirloom watches are restored either to original specification or sympathetically, preserving the patina. Parts for older pieces can be obsolete and may need to be sourced, which can lengthen the work.

Do you pressure-test watches?

Yes. Water resistance and pressure testing are done in-house, and gaskets are replaced when needed. Vintage watches are not warranted against moisture, whatever their markings say.

How much does an assessment cost?

Nothing. Assessment and written estimates are free, an estimate is valid for 30 days, and no work begins until you approve it.

How long does watch repair take?

Battery changes and small repairs are usually ready in one to two business days. A full mechanical service takes two to four weeks, and a restoration can take longer when parts must be sourced or made. Every estimate comes with a good-faith completion date.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes. Workmanship and installed parts are covered by a six-month limited service warranty from the invoice date. The full terms are in the Terms & Conditions.

Can I mail my watch from elsewhere in Canada?

Yes. Watches come to the atelier from across Canada by tracked shipment and return the same way. Any piece valued over $1,000 CAD travels signature-required, and packing instructions are sent when the repair is arranged.
